We are the Elphinstone Hiking Group, a program of the Living Forest Institute.  Our goal is to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get out and enjoy the health and recreational benefits of our spectacular local forests.  Each Saturday morning we will host a different hike along one of our region’s spectacular forest trails. Generally, these hikes will be moderate in difficulty, although a few will be more challenging. Most of the hikes will take place in the Elphinstone Forest.  However, for some of them, we will venture to other areas on the Coast.

Also, on alternate Sunday afternoons, we will host hikes that will be relatively easy, although all participants will need to have a healthy level of agility, as the trails are all through undeveloped sections of forest.

Participation in these hikes will be at the participants’ own risk.

The Living Forest Institute lives, works and plays on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and shíshálh (Sechelt) First Nations.

We believe that our remaining natural forests are integral components of the local communities in which they exist, and play an essential role in the well-being of the planet.  We promote this belief through collaboration with environmental, First Nations, political, educational, artistic, cultural and other organizations to produce art and educational activities that develop stronger connections between community members and local natural forests. In our effort to inspire action and preservation, our focus is on education, inspiration and activism.

COLLABORATE. CREATE. CONNECT. PRESERVE.
