FALL 2023

HEALTH TRAIL FOREST CONCERT SERIES

PLEASE NOTE: VENUE CHANGE FOR SEPTEMBER 24th PERFORMANCE!

For the last performance of our September 2023 Health Trail Concert Series, join us this Sunday (September 24) at 2pm in a new location (due to rain in the forecast, for which we are most grateful!).

We will gather in the Crystal Creek Nature Reserve Gazebo (2085 Lockyer Rd) in amongst the trees very close to the Songbird Forest Trail on the East Wilson Creek Forest Service Road above Roberts Creek.  See below for directions.

Sunday’s performance features ANAGRAM (Anna Lumiere and Graham Ord), performing original songs, assorted tunes by favourite songwriters of theirs, as well as several Brazilian choros on accordion and flute.

Admission is by donation and registration is not required. Participation is at your own risk. Bring a chair and dress warmly.

SEPTEMBER 10th

KEELY HALWARD
”Songs for Summer’s End”

Keely Halward is a singer/songwriter and painter based in xwesam (Roberts Creek). Her original songs introduce audiences to dusty backroads, west coast landscapes, and love gone wrong. She has performed across southern BC in theatres, bars, breweries, cafes, festivals and more. Local projects include producing a tribute to Ani Difranco held at the Rockwood Theatre, singing in a Joni Mitchell Tribute for the Sechelt Arts Festival at the Raven's Cry, and most recently, soloing for the Gibsons Jazz Festival in Legendary Ladies of Jazz. When not on stage with her guitar, she can be found playing keys and singing for local dance band, Monty Montego and the Rocksteady Crew. Follow her on Instagram and Facebook @keelyhalward

SEPTEMBER 17th

STEVE & MARTIN
”Flotsam and Fingerpicking”

Steve Charles and Martin Reisle have played together in various configurations over the years both as supporting musicians to Clara Rose, in theatre and cabaret shows and in each other’s kitchens. In a common love for the geography and creatures of Cascadia and a passion for acoustic-connected music they will explore eclectic musical realms with stringed instruments.

SEPTEMBER 24th

ANAGRAM
”Ode to the Forest”

ANAGRAM (Anna Lumiere and Graham Ord) pour their heart and soul into their music.  They have been performing together for over 20 years.  For this special forest show, they will perform some original songs, as well as several Brazilian choros on accordion and flute.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

SELF GUIDED HIKE

For those who are keen on doing a self guided hike, either before or after the Concert, the Songbird Forest, where LFI held their 2022 Summer Concert Series, is a short distance from Crystal Creek further up the road.  Like the Health Trail, the Songbird Forest was endangered of being clear cut by the Sunshine Coast Community Forest, however it was saved due to the efforts of so many including our sponsor, Elphinstone Logging Focus and those who wrote letters and came to the concerts. Click here for a pamphlet on the Health Trail including a map.

HOW TO GET TO CRYSTAL CREEK NATURE RESERVE

Turn up off Highway 101 at the traffic lights in Roberts Creek onto Lockyer Road heading straight north for two kilometres. At the top of Lockyer Road, the paved road will end with the start of the dirt Wilson Forest Service Road (FSR). At the top of this Wilson FSR, the road turns to the left (west) after the first bridge crossing Flume Creek. Continue for about two kilometres and immediately after the 2nd bridge you will see on the right a Crystal Creek sign up high on a fir tree, and two driveways. Follow the first driveway on your right up to Crystal Creek and continue to the parking area. Look for LFI signage along the route and when you get there a LFI representative guiding where to park.

Generously sponsored by Elphinstone Logging Focus and in collaboration with Spiral Studios and Crystal Creek Nature Retreat.
